Cassidy and Kyle Helmick

Cassidy and Kyle are two loving and giving people. Not only did I hear this from other people throughout the day, but I lived it. Even though they hired me to do a job, I felt like a family member watching two friends become one couple.

Watching the bridal party getting ready at Hotel Roanoke, was like watching the old gang getting back together. The ladies grooving to Cassidy’s playlist, or the guy’s listening to Kyle’s story about being “Travis” when receiving an accidental discount. All while their Wedding Coordinator, Jordan, was making sure everybody was doing well.

When the day started, it was sleeting and I was worried we wouldn’t be able to get any pictures on the roof of Center in the Square. But God, or the Universe, looked kindly upon us and by the time we were ready to shoot outside, it was beautiful and sunny, and remained so for the rest of the day.

Charter Hall was a perfect location for Cassidy and Kyle’s ceremony, seating the numerous guests and providing a stage to showcase their love. After exchanging their rings and saying their vows, they both took communion, and it was striking to see how strong their relationship with God is. I love seeing passion, and all the different things that bring out that passion in each of us.

One of my favorite parts of any wedding ceremony is when the officiant announces the couple as husband and wife. In this moment, you can see the tensions from the day, the preparations, the nerves, the anxiety, the questions, all melt away. Once that announcement is made, the smiles get bigger, the mood gets lighter, and everyone is just having the time of their lives.

The rest of the night was bursting with laughter, tears, and dancing and I am so thankful that I was able to be there for every moment of it. Especially the personalized rendition of “All Star” by Smash Mouth that one of the groomsmen performed. It was a fantastic day and I wish Cassidy and Kyle all the happiness and love for years to come.

If you have an upcoming wedding or event, I would love to talk to you about documenting your special day.
