The Lengths (and Miles) I'll Go for My Couples
People often ask me how far I'll travel for a wedding.
The answer? Pretty much anywhere.
Earlier this year, I had one of the wildest wedding weekends I've ever experienced—covering two weddings in two different cities, separated by hundreds of miles, countless code red mountain dew’s, and one very tired photographer. And honestly? I'd do it all over again.
Stop One: Atlanta, Georgia
Thursday morning, I packed the car and headed south to Atlanta to photograph Chris and Nicole's wedding. A couple I met running zoom comedy shows during the pandemic! I got to watch their love blossom in real time. I am lucky to call them friends as much as clients.
Chris and Nicole are the kind of couple that reminds you why weddings are so special. The entire day felt genuine. It wasn't about putting on a show—it was about celebrating with the people they love most. From the quiet moments before the ceremony to the energy on the dance floor, every part of the day reflected who they are as a couple.
As a photographer, those are the weddings I love most. Real laughs. Real tears. Real moments.
By the time I packed up my cameras that evening, I had already started thinking about the next adventure waiting just a few days later.
Stop Two: Baltimore, Maryland
Sunday started much earlier than most people would willingly accept. Me especially.
5:00 AM.
Code Red in hand, gear packed, I hit the road again—this time toward Baltimore for Abby's wedding.
Abby's wedding couldn't have been more different from the first, and that's one of my favorite things about photographing weddings. Every couple tells their own story, and every celebration has its own personality.
Watching Abby surrounded by her family and friends, celebrating a new chapter, reminded me why I love this job so much. Every wedding has its own rhythm, its own emotions, and its own unforgettable moments. My goal is always the same: preserve those moments so they can relive them for decades.
why I Love Traveling for Weddings
By the end of the weekend, I had driven hundreds of miles, crossed multiple states, spent more hours behind the wheel than I'd like to admit, and probably consumed enough caffeine to power a small city.
Was I exhausted?
Absolutely.
Was it worth it?
Every single mile.
One of the biggest compliments I receive is when couples trust me enough to photograph one of the most important days of their lives—even when that means traveling across the country to do it.
